Have you been thinking about starting up your own publishing company? You can easily do this to self-publish your own book.
And it is not as difficult as you think.
You can even run it out of your home. I did. I also got a mail box at the UPS store since they could take delivery of packages and I used that as my business address.
And you can do your business taxes using something like Turbo Tax for businesses.
Starting a publishing company for yourself is great because it does not take a lot of upfront money. And the potential to make money is pretty great.
Just remember that non-fiction sells way better than fiction. This was a lesson learned the hard way…

Hi,
How did you set up your own publishing company. After spending way to much money with one self-publisher I’m thinking of publishing my own books and using LSI. But where do I start? Any advice?

CJ – LSI is a great place to self-publish. I actually went the more expensive route and paid an offset printer to print 3,000 books for me. The downside was having to pay upfront. I ended up spending around $10,000 for the books. If I had the chance to do it over I would go with LSI. With LSI it is around $80 to get printed (last I checked) plus $30 for your proofs. You will want to have a cover and get the book edited and set up in a design program like Quark before you send the files to LSI. You can get a cover for as low as $250. There is a great Yahoo group on self-publishing. You can get a lot of help from that group. Good luck!
