What Does Twilight Mean for Writers?

Is it easier to sell a novel than a screenplay? With the number of novels printed to the number of screenplays sold, it would seem that it is. What does this mean for novelists? And what about screenwriters? Should book authors be prepared to take a leap into the film industry? Should aspiring screenwriters try to put their thoughts into novel form in the hopes of optioning it as a movie once it’s published?

Some would blame the novel/film relationship on the writers’ strike, but films in Hollywood have been based on books more and more regularly since the immense success of the Harry Potter  and Lord of the Rings franchises. Some successfully (Twilight). Others not so much (Eragon). But, either way, it seems that if you want to make it in movies, you might set out to make it in the world of popular fiction.

So many books, so little time

You know, I love books. But it seems like I never have enough time to read them. But somehow I keep acquiring new ones! At least that is how it seems. And the pile of books by my bed just keeps growing. And I never have time to read them. And that is truly a bummer.
