Amazon has started something new called the AmazonEncore program. This program puts Amazon into the role of publisher now.

Here is what this new program is all about.

Apparently Amazon will use data from their site to identify books that have the potential to sell well but have been overlooked. Amazon seems to be targeting authors that have published with small publishing houses. It appears that they are then luring them away from those publishing houses.

Sarah Palin is the latest celeb to get a book deal. Harper Collins is the lucky publisher. It will be a co-release with its subsidiary, Christian publishing house Zondervan. Expect the release in 2010. No word on how much Palin is getting for this book deal. Speculation is in the multimillions.
