Do you consider yourself to be a writer? If so, where do you go for writing help? There are a lot of writing groups that meet in various cities. Most times you can find these writers groups at your local bookstores. So, if you are a writer and need some help or want to bounce some ideas off of someone you should look for a listing of writers groups in your area. Another option is to look for online support. You might be able to find a Yahoo writers group or something similar to offer you the help and support that you need.

Have you seen the New York Times list of the 100 Most Notable Books of 2007? Have you read any of the books on the list? Do you have a book on the list? Or maybe are you dreaming of getting a book on the list? Or do you think that it is a hack list and it has no value whatsoever?

Can I just say that I had not heard of most of them. Well, except for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!

A bookstore in danger of closing – BookWoman in Texas

According to Shelf Awareness there is an indie bookstore in danger of not having enough money to stay open. That bookstore is BookWoman bookstore in Austin, Texas. They must raise a total of $50,000 by Christmas to stay open. Owner Susan Post “quietly announced that she needed to raise $25,000 by last week if she hoped to pay off debt and keep the store open. The store would need another $25,000 by Christmas to pay for the down payment on a new lease and the installation of new store fixtures.” Yikes. Here is hoping that another indie bookstore does not “bite the dust.”
